Mechanical Fitter

Our client keeps Western Australia’s mines, farms, ports and processing plants moving through reliable pump hire and project solutions. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will transform raw equipment into hire-ready assets and keep the fleet operating so customers never miss a production day. Your work will directly protect revenue and reputation across some of the state’s toughest sites.

Performance Objectives

  • Assemble, align and commission diesel and electric pump packages to OEM specifications within required timeframes.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and engine faults in the workshop or on-site and restore units to hire-ready condition.
  • Complete planned maintenance across the pump fleet, helping reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Fabricate and modify pipework, skids and couplings in accordance with custom project drawings.
  • Complete accurate job cards and update parts inventory to maintain stock accuracy.
  • Provide remote technical support and prepare parts kits to help field technicians complete call-outs efficiently.

Environment and Resources

You will report to the Workshop Supervisor and join a close-knit team of tradespeople and apprentices. The fully equipped Perth metropolitan workshop includes an overhead crane, test bay, welding bays and a well-stocked parts facility.

Travel throughout Western Australia may be required for breakdowns and installations. A company vehicle and all required PPE will be supplied, together with access to consumables and specialist tooling.

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised Mechanical Fitter trade certificate or equivalent.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience working with centrifugal pumps, diesel engines and hydraulic equipment.
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and work independently in workshop and remote-site environments.
  • Current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence.
  • HR licence and White Card will be highly regarded.
  • Strong safety record and willingness to obtain additional tickets, including Working at Heights and Confined Space.
  • Physical ability to lift equipment safely and work in hot, dusty or marine environments.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • See the pump packages you build deployed across mines, farms, ports and processing facilities.
  • Join a growing business where practical ideas can directly improve workshop systems and processes.
  • Work across equipment ranging from six-inch dewatering sets to 500 kW high-head project packages.
  • Competitive hourly rate with generous overtime and site allowances.
  • Genuine career pathway into a Leading Hand or Field Supervisor position.

Ready to help keep Western Australia pumping? Submit your résumé and a short note about the most challenging pump you have rebuilt. Interviews are being conducted regularly, with an immediate start available for the right person.
