Our client is a leading global manufacturer and service provider of industrial power transmission, motion control, and automation solutions. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their Mackay workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tradesperson or mechanical engineering professional looking to further their career within a highly respected industrial organisation servicing the mining, resources, manufacturing, and heavy industry sectors.
About the Role
The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the assembly, refurbishment, maintenance, testing, and repair of industrial mechanical equipment, including gearboxes, drive systems, rotating equipment, and associated components.
Working within a collaborative workshop environment, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality service and technical solutions to a diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, inspect, dismantle, repair, and reassemble industrial mechanical equipment
- Perform gearbox and drive system overhauls and refurbishments
- Conduct precision measurements, inspections, and quality checks
- Carry out fault-finding and troubleshooting activities
- Complete testing and commissioning of repaired equipment
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality and safety standards
- Maintain accurate service documentation and reports
- Work collaboratively with workshop and field service teams to meet customer requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, candidates will possess:
- A Mechanical Engineering Degree or a Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Diesel Fitter or equivalent)
- 4–7 years' experience in a similar mechanical fitting, maintenance, service, or workshop role
- Experience working with gearboxes, rotating equipment, pumps, motors, conveyors, bearings, couplings, or industrial drive systems
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Commitment to workplace health, safety, and quality standards
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
- Experience within mining, manufacturing, heavy industry, power generation, or industrial services
- Laser alignment experience
- Experience with gearbox rebuilds and rotating equipment maintenance
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge
