Head of Sales - Mechanical Industrial

 

Head of Sales - Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia Region

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Base Salary + Super + Bonus + Car Allowance

Our client, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Sales to lead their Melbourne-based branch. This senior leadership position will manage the consolidated region of Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia, driving growth and fostering collaboration across a diverse and dispersed team. The ideal candidate will be a proven business leader with a mechanical engineering background and a track record of successfully managing large teams and achieving substantial growth targets.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Budgets: Achieve state sales budgets, maximize growth opportunities within expense budgets, and drive operating profit levels. Plan and coordinate strategies to meet business goals while optimizing resource utilization across the region.
  • Market Share: Implement strategies for market share growth in designated markets/segments/channels, including product units and new product sales. Oversee the implementation of the regional marketing plan to ensure alignment with national strategy and budget.
  • Operational & Administrative Functions: Oversee sales reviews, approve contracts, quotes, and tenders in line with company policy. Ensure timely and accurate processing of sales and credits and maintain debtor management within guidelines.
  • Leadership & Development: Manage a cross-functional team of regional sales managers, branch administration staff, and other direct and indirect reports. Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and team development.
  • Corporate Governance: Ensure all state activities comply with statutory and organizational requirements. Advocate the company's values of trust, respect, and accountability while implementing strategies for quality assurance and EH&S best practices.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: A technical trade qualification or tertiary degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics is highly desirable. A business management qualification or equivalent senior sales leadership experience is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a technical sales and business operations environment. At least 10 years' experience working with pneumatics, mechanical, or electrical engineered products.
  • Skills: Proven ability to manage teams, develop strategic sales plans, and drive market share growth. Strong commercial acumen, sales development skills, and a successful track record of building long-term customer relationships.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your style to various audiences.
  • IT Skills: Well-developed IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of EH&S legislation and procedures, and experience coordinating QA audits.
