About the Company
My client is a well-established distribution business based on the Gold Coast, supplying premium poultry, meats, cheeses, and wines to over 1,800 restaurants across the region. With a long-standing reputation for quality and service, they are a trusted partner in the local food service industry.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join my client’s leadership team. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the strategic direction of the business during a period of ongoing growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the implementation and effective use of NetSuite to streamline and improve financial reporting.
- Partner closely with the COO and broader leadership team to support financial decision-making and drive business performance.
- Manage and mentor a small finance team, including one direct report.
- Act as the key contact for audit and tax engagements with external firms, including KPMG.
- Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts and oversee accounts payable and receivable.
- Ensure the timely preparation of financial statements and board reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements across financial systems and operations.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CA or CPA qualification (or progress toward) preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and managing financial systems, particularly NetSuite.
- Confident communicator with strong analytical thinking and leadership capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and managing competing priorities.
