Field Service Technician – Rotating Equipment (Compressors)

North Queensland, Australia


My client, an established industrial services provider is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to join its Queensland operations. This position offers a mix of hands-on mechanical work, customer interaction, and technical problem-solving. You’ll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing compressors and rotating equipment across a range of client sites, while also supporting the company’s growth through high-quality field service.


Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, emergency breakdown work, and mechanical repairs on compressors and rotating machinery

• Perform installations, testing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance

• Ensure all work areas are left safe, tidy, and compliant after completing tasks

• Assist in day-to-day service operations and contribute to team efficiency

• Promote preventative maintenance plans to customers and identify opportunities to enhance equipment performance

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships while representing the business on site

• Provide guidance and support to new or developing technicians

• Look after company tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they remain in excellent condition


What You’ll Bring

• Certificate III – Fitter and Turner (or equivalent trade qualification)

• At least 5 years’ experience working on compressors or similar rotating equipment

• Solid troubleshooting and mechanical fault-finding skills

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly

• Competent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• A proactive mindset with the ability to spot improvement or upgrade opportunities

• Reliable, self-directed, and committed to delivering a high standard of service
