Field Service Technician – Compressors & Industrial Equipment

A leading industrial equipment and service provider is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join its growing Mackay team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a trade-qualified technician who enjoys working in the field, solving technical challenges, and providing high-quality service to customers across mining, industrial, and commercial sectors.

In this role, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing compressed air systems and associated industrial equipment while delivering exceptional customer support. The position is primarily based throughout Mackay , with occasional travel to regional customer sites.


The Role

Reporting to the Service Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs on air compressors and industrial rotating equipment
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and performing repairs both onsite and within the workshop
  • Installing, commissioning, and testing new equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Responding promptly to customer service requests and emergency breakdowns
  • Developing strong customer relationships through professional technical support
  • Identifying opportunities for equipment upgrades, maintenance contracts, and additional services
  • Completing service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation accurately
  • Ensuring company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in excellent working condition
  • Following all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Assisting with the training and support of apprentices and junior technicians when required


About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, or similar mechanical trade
  • 3+ years' experience maintaining and repairing industrial mechanical equipment
  • Experience working with compressors, pumps, blowers, generators, rotating equipment, or similar plant machinery
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Basic computer skills for completing digital service reports and job documentation
  • A self-motivated, safety-focused attitude with the ability to work independently
