Technical Business Development Manager – Water & Wastewater Projects


My client is a respected Australian engineering and solutions business specialising in industrial water and wastewater treatment technologies. With continued project growth across the eastern states, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Technical Business Development Manager to further develop and support their industrial client portfolio.

This is a senior-level, client-facing opportunity suited to someone with experience selling engineered and technical solutions rather than transactional product sales. The role will involve working closely with customers across a range of industrial water and wastewater projects, helping identify opportunities and supporting solution development through to project delivery.


The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role will focus on developing opportunities across Queensland and broader east coast territories. You will collaborate closely with engineering, technical, and project delivery teams to understand customer requirements and provide commercially viable technical solutions.


Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business opportunities within industrial water and wastewater sectors

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships

• Work with internal teams to develop tailored technical solutions

• Promote engineered and project-based solutions

• Support projects through proposal and delivery stages

• Maintain awareness of market and industry trends

• Represent the business professionally with clients and stakeholders

• Work independently while collaborating with the national team


About You

You will ideally come from a technical sales, business development, or engineering background within industrial water, wastewater, or broader process solutions environments.

Suitable backgrounds may include:

• Industrial water and wastewater treatment systems

• Process or environmental engineering solutions

• Technical BDM or solution-based sales roles

• Design and construct project environments

• Filtration, membrane, RO, UF, separation, or biological treatment systems

• Industrial process or environmental infrastructure solutions


The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Proven experience in technical sales or business development

• Strong understanding of industrial water and wastewater applications

• Exposure to engineered systems or project delivery environments

• Ability to engage with technical and operational stakeholders

• Strong commercial and relationship-building skills

• Ability to work autonomously

• Practical and solutions-focused mindset

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
