Business Development Manager – Power Transmission Solutions (Melbourne)

Job Function

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving sales and fostering long-term relationships with customers in the mining, energy, and industrial sectors. Your focus will be on identifying and securing business opportunities for large coupling packages and slide bearings, with support from in-house engineers for technical queries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Business Development (50%):
  • Identify opportunities for large coupling packages (e.g., projects needing 20+ large couplings) and slide bearings (for megawatt+ electric motors).
  • Engage with customers in a consultative, relationship-building manner rather than through aggressive sales tactics.
  • Represent premium product brands across the Australian and New Zealand markets.
  • Work closely with customers on technical applications, providing tailored solutions and expertise.
  • Account Management (5-10%):
  • Manage a small portfolio of national strategic accounts, interacting with senior decision-makers.
  • Maintain strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Sales & Office Support:
  • Handle customer inquiries and assist with stock orders.
  • Contribute to broader company activities, embracing a hands-on approach to business operations.

 

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical knowledge and business development experience, with the ability to work closely with customers across various industries.

Key qualifications and attributes include:

  • A technical background (preferred but not mandatory), with comfort discussing technical applications with customers.
  • Proven experience in business development with a focus on outbound sales and long-term relationship-building.
  • Enjoys working within a team environment and taking on a variety of tasks beyond just sales.
  • Strong desire to grow into a senior leadership role, with long-term career development potential.
  • Experience in the mining, energy, industrial engineering, or marine industries would be advantageous.
