Are you an experienced sales professional with a strong technical background in water treatment or related industries?
We’re working with a national water treatment specialist to recruit a Business Development Manager based in Melbourne. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building long-term relationships, securing new business, and delivering tailored water treatment solutions across industrial, municipal, and mining sectors.

My client is a well-established leader in providing specialised water treatment solutions tailored to the needs of clients across Australia. With a team of experts spread along the east coast, they bring technical knowledge, reliability, and a customer-first approach to every project. Their focus spans industrial, mining, and municipal clients, and their reputation for quality and results is reflected in longstanding relationships with top-tier companies and consultancies.
The Role
This permanent full-time position reports to the Sales Manager and focuses on expanding business opportunities across the water and resources sector in Victoria. You'll work closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders, ensuring all solutions are strategically aligned with client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective opportunities across target industries
- Actively manage new business generation through established networks and existing client channels
- Prepare detailed proposals and costed documentation aligned with project scope and budget
- Negotiate commercial agreements and close deals with a long-term view
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and competitors to ensure competitive positioning
- Travel to client sites as required to build and maintain strong relationships
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience within the resources and/or water sectors
- A qualification in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Prior experience working with tier-one clients or engineering consultancies
- Familiarity with the development of water treatment programs across industrial, mining, and municipal applications
- Strong technical acumen and the ability to communicate complex solutions clearly to stakeholders at all levels
- Confident, self-motivated, and professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills
